Outer screen or inner screen?
The outer screen is the small cover display on the front of the phone when it’s closed. On the Flip 4 this is a narrow strip rather than the larger cover display of later models, used for notifications and as a selfie viewfinder. At £109.99 it is much the cheaper repair, and because it faces outwards when the phone is shut, it is often the first thing to get damaged.
The inner screen is the main folding display you see when the phone is open. At £289.99 it is the most expensive repair on this site, and that is the part rather than the labour — a folding panel with its bonded protective layer, fitted around the hinge. Dead strips along the fold, unresponsive areas or a lifting protective layer all point to the inner screen.

Folding phones split their battery into two smaller cells either side of the hinge, so total capacity is modest and several years of use is felt keenly. Is a crease along the fold normal?
Yes. A faint crease where the phone folds is normal on every folding handset, including brand new ones, and it is not a fault or a sign of a poor repair. What should not be there is a dead strip, discolouration or an area that will not respond to touch.
Is it still worth repairing a Flip 4?
A battery at £74.99 or back glass at £64.99, on a phone you like and want to keep, is straightforwardly worth doing. The inner screen at £289.99 is a much bigger call on a handset of this age — if that is what you need, get in touch and we will give you an honest view before you commit.
Do you use genuine Samsung parts?
Yes. On a folding display this matters more than on a conventional phone — the panel, its protective layer and the way it sits in the hinge all have to be right, and aftermarket alternatives are far less consistent on folding handsets.
