Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 repairs explained
Folding phones are a different proposition to a conventional handset, and the single most important thing to get right before booking is which screen you actually need. The Z Flip 5 has two, they are separate parts, and there is well over £150 between them.
Outer screen or inner screen?
The outer screen is the cover display on the front of the phone when it is closed — the one you use for notifications, widgets and as a viewfinder for selfies. At £119.99 it is much the cheaper of the two, and because it is the surface facing outwards when the phone is shut, it is also the one that tends to get damaged first.
The inner screen is the main folding display you see when the phone is open. At £274.99 it is the most expensive repair we offer on any Samsung, and that reflects the part itself — a folding panel with its protective layer, fitted around the hinge area. If yours has a crease-line fault, a dead strip along the fold, or delamination of the protective layer, that is the inner screen.

How do I know whether I need the outer or inner screen?

The protective layer on my inner screen is peeling. Is that a repair?
The inner display has a factory-applied protective layer that can lift or bubble with use. It is not something to peel off yourself, as the layer is part of the display assembly. Send us a photo and we will tell you whether it needs the full inner screen repair or something less involved.
Is there a visible crease on the inner screen after repair?
A faint crease along the fold is normal on all folding phones, including new ones — it is a consequence of the design rather than a fault or a sign of a poor repair. What should not be there after a repair is a dead strip, discolouration or an area that does not respond to touch.
Do you use genuine Samsung parts?
Yes. On a folding display in particular this matters — the panel, its protective layer and the way it sits in the hinge all have to be right, and aftermarket alternatives are far less consistent on folding phones than on conventional ones.
How long does a repair take?
